Full Description

The Beech Tree (Fagus Sylvatica) is a versatile and hardy plant, thriving in a variety of conditions. Perfect for creating a year-round hedging screen, Beech is technically a deciduous plant, but it retains its coppery, dry leaves throughout the winter, providing continuous coverage until new green shoots replace them in spring. This makes Beech an excellent alternative to evergreen hedges, offering a formal, attractive boundary with seasonal interest.

Beech is also relatively fast-growing, but it does require a trim in late summer or early autumn to maintain its dense leaf coverage through the winter months. Ideal for formal hedges or as part of a mixed native hedge, Beech adds structure and beauty to your landscape.

Our Beech plant range includes varieties like Purple Beech (Fagus Sylvatica Purpurea), Weeping Purple Beech (Fagus Sylvatica Purpurea Pendula), and Weeping Green Beech (Fagus Sylvatica Pendula), offering a variety of options to suit different aesthetic preferences.

When left to grow as a standalone tree, Beech can reach impressive heights of up to 20 meters with a spread of 15-20 meters, making it a striking feature in any garden or park.

Aftercare

Ensure in hot weather to regularly water your beech hedging, especially after pruning.  When watering beech trees remember to water the ground around the trunk.
